Brandon Lake and Lainey Wilson 'The Jesus I Know Now' Lyric Video

You can’t miss Brandon Lake and Lainey Wilson’s ‘The Jesus I Know’ lyric video. There’s something so honest about the way music can gently unravel the things we’ve believed for years—and then, somehow, stitch them back together with truth.

I'm learning He likes me
Even when I take a truck a little too far
Yeah, I'm learning he loves me
Every hair on my head, every story behind my scars

I can relate to this kind of song in a way that feels personal, almost sacred. I was raised believing God was distant… watching from afar, quick to be disappointed, maybe even angry if you stepped out of line. The kind of God who kept score. The kind of God who felt impossible to please. And if I’m honest, I think so many of us—moms, grandmas, women who have carried both faith and questions—have wrestled with that same picture of Him at some point. We didn’t know there was another way to know Him.

And then life happens.

That’s why this song hits so deeply. It’s not complicated or overly polished—it feels like a conversation. Like two people sitting across from each other, telling the truth about where they’ve been and what they’ve discovered along the way. Born out of a writer’s retreat filled with some of Nashville’s biggest voices, the song came from a simple, honest moment—Lainey sharing how the Jesus she knows now looks different from the one she grew up hearing about. And you can feel that sincerity in every line.

It’s the kind of song you don’t just listen to—you carry it with you. You hum it while you’re folding laundry or driving down a quiet road. You find yourself whispering thank you under your breath, not because everything is perfect, but because you’ve come to know Him differently now. More gently. More personally. More fully.
Because the truth is, He was never distant.

He’s always been the God who comes near.

And maybe that’s what this song does so beautifully—it lays those old misconceptions to rest. It gives us permission to release the fear-based version of God we once held onto and embrace the real, living, loving Jesus who meets us right where we are.

So as you listen to Brandon Lake and Lainey Wilson's "The Jesus I Know Now', maybe you don’t just sing along. Maybe you let it heal something. Maybe you let it remind you that it’s never too late to know Him more deeply—not the way you were told, but the way your heart is discovering Him now. And maybe, right there in the quiet hum of the melody, you realize… He’s been closer all along.

“Come near to God and He will come near to you.”  James 4:8

Genavieve Linkowski Loves Songs That Declare Who Jesus Is

“I love songs like this -- just declaring Jesus and Who He is. I hope you are all blessed and encouraged by it!” she writes in the caption of her YouTube video of “I Know a Name.”

Back in 2019, Genavieve tragically lost her sister in a car accident. “From that moment on, God began a journey to teach me lessons that only suffering can teach in a way that I would never ever in my life ask to be done,” Genavieve shares on her website. “God has used this tragedy to do what He has given me the desire to do with all of my life - to give Him glory! I pray that God will use my testimony to get you to the point of complete surrender to Jesus and His will for your life. May we all live to bring Him all the Glory He deserves.”

As Genavieve Linkowski’s "I Know a Name" cover plays, you can feel how this song was written to combat fear and anxiety, and serve as a bold declaration that Jesus is the "name above all names." His name is capable of breaking chains, reviving hope, and bringing victory. Praise God for that! We hope this song was an encouragement to you today.

‘What a friend we have in Jesus,
all our sins and griefs to bear!
What a privilege to carry
everything to God in prayer!’

“What a Friend We Have in Jesus” Was Written by Joseph Scriven

As for the background of “What A Friend We Have In Jesus,” it was written by Joseph Scriven, a transplanted Irishman in Canada. He was born in Ireland in 1819 and enjoyed wealth, education, a devoted family, and a pleasant life in his native country. After college, he established himself as a teacher, fell in love, and was to be married. But his fiancée ended up drowning, and the only place that Joseph found solace was in Jesus.

Joseph then left for Canada to start a new life and fell in love with a woman named Eliza Rice in Port Hope. But she became sick and also died before Joseph, and she was married. Joseph’s faith was the only thing that brought him through this tragic time. After a lot of time spent in prayer, Joseph took a vow of poverty, sold all of his earthly possessions, and vowed to give his life to the physically handicapped and financially destitute. He became known as “The Good Samaritan of Port Hope.”

Later in his life, when Joseph became ill, a friend visiting him found a poem beside his bed. He asked who had written it, and Joseph responded saying, "The Lord and I did it between us.” And after his death, the poem was put to music by Charles Converse and is the hymn we know and love today.

We hope that you enjoyed listening to this beautiful rendition of “What a Friend We Have In Jesus” today!
