Social media is filled with memorial and tributes just about every time a lawmaker dies. And more often than not – the pundit crowd begins their posts with a caveat: “I did not agree with Senator so and so, but…” or “We disagreed on everything and he was a sorry so-and-so, but...” If you have to qualify your tribute or memorial – it is not a tribute. It's an example of bad upbringing. Senator Lindsey Graham died suddenly over the weekend. And I noticed that a good many folks on both sides of the aisle were offering backhanded condolences. Senator Graham was a good and decent man. He took care of his family. He fought for the unborn. He stood up for religious liberty. He was a friend to our president. And he will be missed. And as Grandma Starnes used to say – if you can’t say something nice – it’s just best to hush up.
