Peltola’s Playbook: Find a Fake Dan Sullivan and Hope Nobody Notices
Friday, October 30, 2026
You’re listening to American Ground Radio with Louis R. Avallone and Stephen Parr. This is the full show for October 29, 2026.
We open with the controversy surrounding Congresswoman Ilhan Omar, President Trump, and former President Barack Obama. We look at the allegations about her marriage and immigration history. We also look at the New York Times report that Obama’s Justice Department examined the questions in 2016, and at why prosecutors reportedly dropped the case over the statute of limitations. We ask why scrutiny that was acceptable then is called outrageous now, and what it says about whether we’re a nation of laws or of men.
In our Top 3 Things You Need to Know, third-quarter GDP grows 3.4%, beating expectations, with consumer spending up 3.8%. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth fires Lieutenant General Brett Sylvia over allegations of leaking classified information about the Iran war and other conflicts. And the Department of Justice says it has broken up a student loan fraud scheme involving more than 830,000 fraudulent accounts, with five people arrested.
Next, we look at Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger’s photo celebrating what she calls the most diverse cabinet in the state’s history, and ask what the word “diversity” is supposed to mean. Our American Mamas, Teri Netterville and Kimberly Burleson, take on the question “Can the way a woman reacts after a death reveal that she committed the murder?” They discuss the Darlie Routier case, a Shreveport woman who spent years in prison after being judged on how she acted, and how differently people grieve.
We also tell you about George Clooney’s New York fundraiser for progressive causes, a Hollywood event built around a play about political misinformation. In Digging Deep, we return to the Alaska Senate race. A fired Peltola campaign manager told the New York Times that the campaign recruited a second Dan Sullivan to run. We play Mary Peltola’s response and look at the law firm she hired, and ask why her answer didn’t deny the report.
We also dig into Kamala Harris’s call for Democrats to be “ruthless,” expand the Supreme Court to 13 justices, rethink the Electoral College, and pursue statehood for D.C. and Puerto Rico. Our Bright Spot is Walmart’s Thanksgiving meal for ten for $35, the lowest price in the program’s history, and what it may signal about falling food prices. Then we look at a congressional investigation into whether New York prosecutors reduced charges against illegal immigrants to help them avoid deportation. We close with a tribute to Sir Patrick Stewart, from the Royal Shakespeare Company to the bridge of the Enterprise.
