MercyMe Delivers Beautiful 'Oh Death' Performance

MercyMe delivered a beautiful performance of their tune, “Oh Death.” The popular Christian music group gave an exclusive performance of their latest uplifting and incredibly catchy, upbeat hit. Watch the short but delightful clip to hear and watch MercyMe perform their song "Oh Death."

Death is a huge, massive fear for most people. It’s completely understandable why many individuals are frightened about what happens after our time on Earth ends. It’s filled with unknowns, and not knowing what happens next always causes human beings to experience trepidation and anxiety. We desperately want that knowledge so we can be prepared and aren’t caught off guard or taken by surprise.

However, those many unknowns will always exist when it comes to death. We won’t know what happens until our time is up. But even with those many unknowns, death is not something we have to fear. Christ, who willingly went to the cross, suffered and died for you and me, forever defeating death and sin.

In a clip posted on YouTube, MercyMe performs “Oh Death.” It’s a tune about how death no longer has a hold on them. They don’t fear or dread it. Instead, they joyously sing about death and how they have a Savior who has defeated the grave and death.

“Oh death, I will not be afraid
In the end, you will lose
I will dance on your grave with the one who buried you
You ain’t nothin’ but a stone that my Savior rolled away”

If that song and those powerful lyrics don’t move you, I’m sure anything will. Death, while many unknowns remain, is not something that we have to fear. Christ’s love and forgiveness offer freedom from sin, shame and fear, which includes the fear of death. If Jesus Christ is our personal Lord and Savior, and we’re sure that heaven is our destination after leaving this Earth, why do we fear death?

The current season of American Idol is quickly moving toward its inevitable conclusion. The contestants continue to shine as they sing their hearts out, desperately hoping to become the next winner. As every season always does, this season has made the public aware of some truly talented performers, including stay-at-home mom and aspiring singer Breanna Nix.

Breanna was shy and reserved in her initial audition, referring to herself as just a stay-at-home mom. Carrie Underwood quickly corrected her, telling her never to call herself “just a stay-at-home mom,” stating that that is the most important job of all.

Since wowing the judges in her audition, Breanna has become more confident on stage. In one of her latest appearances on the show, she turned in an outstanding performance of Lauren Daigle’s “Still Rolling Stones.” It’s a beautiful tune about the power, love and forgiveness of Jesus Christ.

“I thought I was too far gone
For everything I’ve done wrong
Yeah, I’m the one who dug this grave
But You called my name”

Breanna sounds terrific, as she has throughout the show. But what was most noticeable about the young woman was her confidence, which has grown tenfold since her initial audition. While beautifully singing “Still Rolling Stones,” Breanna moves about the stage and interacts with the audience. She looked like a seasoned pro, someone who has been doing this for years. 

The audience and the judges loved what they saw from the young woman.

“I mean, if anyone has ever picked the right song, that is your deal,” Luke Bryan said. “The confidence that you embody – I mean, it was like watching when Adele is in her zone. You truly owned that moment, and you never let off the gas from the start to the finish.”

Hymns, no matter how old, are always a joy to hear. Those familiar tunes about Christ’s love, mercy, grace and faithfulness will always and forever remain relevant and powerful. What could be better than hearing and singing “How Great Thou Art,” “Great is Thy Faithfulness” and “Amazing Grace?”

Those simple yet beautifully written songs about our Savior will always best any contemporary Christian music tune. No matter what we face in this world, we can have faith and assurance that everything will be fine. Yes, things may be falling apart all around us, but Christ is still in control and remains on the throne. We do not have to worry or fret in times of trouble; He offers peace beyond all understanding. It’s a peace and a calm that the world cannot grasp. Praise His name!

Billie Jo Jones Soul-Stirring Acoustic ‘How Great Thou Art’ Performance

I have to tell you about this video. I stumbled across it while sipping my coffee, thinking it would just be a sweet little background song — but then this country singer opened her mouth, and I nearly dropped my mug. You will love Billie Jo Jones’ soul-stirring acoustic ‘How Great Thou Art’ performance. 

She’s standing in this humble studio — no big lights, no big fanfare, and certainly no crowds. Just Billie Jo, who was so petite you could tuck her in your pocket, and her friend quietly strumming a guitar. And the second she starts singing ‘How Great Thou Art,’ oh mercy. I got goosebumps. It’s like her whole soul leans into Jesus with every word.

Her voice isn’t just a sound — it’s a prayer-filled story wrapped in twang and tenderness. You can feel that she knows the One she’s singing to. 

You can tell this is what she was made for. Billie Jo started singing before most kids even knew their ABCs. “I was putting on private concerts for my grandparents, who raised me in their living room when I was 4-5 years old,” she said. “They would sit and watch me for hours and clap for me after every song.”

And bless her heart, she wasn’t just humming lullabies. We’re talking Shania Twain, Dixie Chicks, Patsy Cline, and Loretta Lynn. She’s country through and through — but with her own grit and grace that makes it all feel brand new.

“Singing is the only thing I have ever wanted to do,” Billie Jo shared. “God didn’t give me this voice to just sit at home with it. I believe He gave me this voice and the courage to go out and play shows every weekend.”

And you know what? You see that courage in this video. You hear her heart for people, her deep-down belief that every note can carry hope. “Getting to share my voice and my story through my songs means EVERYTHING to me,” she said.

It’s no wonder I sat there teary-eyed, whispering the words with her: Then sings my soul, my Savior God, to Thee…

Because, oh friend — hers sure did.

Michael W. Smith talks about his new single, ‘Arms Around The Sun’ featuring ‘The Chosen’s’ Jonathon Roumie. Sometimes a moment in music feels like joy you could bottle — and that’s precisely what happened when our favorite singer dropped his new single that will have you dancing. And get this: Jonathan Roumie, the guy who plays Jesus on ‘The Chosen,’ played drums on the track. Yes, you read that right — Jesus on the kit.

This whole collaboration wasn’t even planned. Jonathan posted on Instagram, “I couldn’t be more honored to get to play with the legend himself… This all happened kinda spontaneously (I maintain I was ‘tricked’ into this recording by Tedd and Michael 😂).” You can feel how much it meant to him, like a dream God kept tucked away until the right time.

Michael confirmed it, he said,  “He was a little nervous… We did probably three or four passes of it, and he just killed it. He just knocked it out of the park.”

You can hear the fun, the freedom, the fingerprints of Heaven in the beat. And what’s even more beautiful is that you can feel Michael’s heart behind it all. He’s not chasing charts or trying to fit in. “I write what I feel led to do,” he said. “It’s tempting — you want to compete — but you just can’t go there.” He cares deeply about his music, about the people who listen, and about what God thinks.

“It took 63 mixes to get the mix right,” Michael laughed, “but you know what, hey, if it was easy everybody would do it.” He added, “I listened to it this morning on my walk… just to make sure it still sounded as good as I thought it did.”

That kind of care? That kind of passion? It shows.

Watching Jonathan live out an old dream and seeing Michael light up like a kid with a new toy — it just feels like God smiling through melody. It’s not just another worship track; it’s an upbeat song with an 80s vibe. It’s an echo of something eternal, with arms wide open around the sun and the soul. And honestly? It’s worth hitting play more than once.

Christ can enter those hopeless, seemingly lost situations and inject hope and life. He can make a way even when it was thought to be none. He is the difference maker, and if not for Christ’s love, forgiveness and bloodshed on the cross, we’d still be lost. But how can you or do you adequately thank and praise Him for doing so much for you and me?

We can’t, but we can still offer words of worship and praise. That is exactly what one woman has done with her lovely rendition of “Oh, How I Love Jesus.” Although the song may be familiar to many, the sweet, beautiful words will always cause many to become emotional. The lyrics describe the life-changing and life-saving name of Jesus.

“There is a name I love to hear
I love to sing its worth
It sounds like music in my ear
The sweetest name on Earth”

Jesus's name has changed and is still transforming hearts and lives. His love, mercy, forgiveness and grace are available to all. He stands at the door and knocks, but before we can be forgiven, we must answer and let Him in.

This song's beautiful lyrics provide the answer for a broken world full of people looking for someone to trust and place their faith in. The lyrics are moving, powerful and full of truth. They describe the faithful and loving nature of Jesus Christ.

What beautiful and powerful words! 

Even when the path forward is muddled and unclear, we can never go wrong when trusting and relying upon Christ. In times of pain and uncertainty, He will guide, protect and direct. Again, He is always faithful and always has been. He has never let us down before, and there is no reason to believe that He ever will.

Hebrews 10:23 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised.”
