Carrie Underwood Sings 'Mary, Did You Know?' At CMA Country Christmas

Country superstar Carrie Underwood performs the Christmas classic ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ It took singer-songwriter Mark Lowery nearly 7 years to perfect the words to ‘Mary Did You Know?’ The idea for the song came to Mark when he was writing a Christmas program for Jerry Falwell in 1984. He began pondering what he would ask Mary if she was sitting right in front of him. He put together the questions that eventually became the lyrics. In 1991, once the lyrics were complete, Mark asked his friend, and fellow musician, Buddy Greene to write the music to accompany his words. It only took 30 minutes for Buddy to compose the iconic music for ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ ‘Mary did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man? Mary did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand? Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod? When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God’ Carrie Underwood became a household name after winning the fourth season of American Idol back in 2005. She won over the hearts of America with covers of songs such as Bonnie Raitt's ""I Can't Make You Love Me"" and “Bless The Broken Road” from Rascal Flatts. After her win, she quickly climbed the country charts and made a solid name for herself in the country music world. It’s been nearly 15 years since that momentous audition and Carrie is still touching hearts all around the world. In 2020, Carrie released her first full-length Christmas album, My Gift. Today, she’s performing the iconic Christmas song ‘Mary, Did You Know?’ and it’s absolutely incredible. Just listen as she belts out these words of awe and wonder for our King. ‘Mary did you know that your baby boy is Lord of all creation? Mary did you know that your baby boy would one day rule the nations? Luke 1:35 “The angel answered, ""The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.”

'When We Seek Him' Powerful Christmas Song From Shawna Edwards

Listen to this powerful Christmas song titled ‘When We Seek Him’ written by Shawna Edwards and Angie Killian. “The wise men were watching and praying for heavenly signs of his birth. They followed the starlight through long days and dark nights to worship the Lord of the earth. If miles lay between us, then I’d walk to Jesus; o’er mountain and desert, I’d follow that star. But he doesn’t ask us to journey so far, for he will be with us wherever we are.” What a beautiful song full of truth and love. And such a stunning video! In the music video, a group of talented children are seen singing in front of a breathtaking lake with mountains in the background. And many of the children performing have solos throughout the song, and they all have such wonderful voices. “Wow! You are so incredibly talented!” comments one person on YouTube after watching the video. “Great songwriting, great artistry, and the kids...well, there are no words. Took my breath away. I really love to see people use their gifts to bless and lift others, so praise all the way around.” “I have a new favorite song!” writes another person online. “Thanks for the wonderful message delivered by these beautiful children.” The song is such a great reminder of the greatest gift of all – Jesus. We hope that you enjoyed listening to ‘When We Seek Him’ today! And in this Christmas season, we hope that you feel encouraged and loved when you think about Jesus coming to earth to save us all. Isaiah 9:6 For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; and the government will rest on His shoulders; and His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.

And it’s no wonder because they are all siblings! Rebecca St. James is the sister of Joel and Luke Smallbone, who formed the band For King And Country. They are all originally from Australia but moved with their family to the United States when they were teens. In the song ‘Kingdom Come,’ the lyrics paint a picture of hope and healing. And the music video shows inspiring scenes of baptisms and revivals all around the world. “In a world needing encouragement and hope, we pray that this music video is a blessing to you and yours!” writes Rebecca St. James in the caption of this video. “These visuals of worldwide revival, Jesus being worshiped, and family unity have brought me to tears. Our world is in need of revival, we need God’s kingdom to come and it begins with you and I seeking Him passionately. Let it start with us!” Rebecca also shares in an interview about her inspiration behind the song. “When Joel, Luke and I were writing this song we were inspired by the Lords’ prayer and the need for revival right now,” she says. “I believe that there’s a desperation that is foundational to every true move of the Spirit. And our world is desperate right now! Great revivalists have said if you want to see revival, draw a circle on the floor, step into it and pray for revival to begin there.” ‘Kingdom Come’ is the lead single from Rebecca St. James’s new album, and we hope that the song was able to encourage you today!
