Book of Psalms Back to Songs: Psalm 6 - A Prayer in Time of Trouble

The "Book of Psalms: Back to Songs" project is a creative endeavor to restore the original spirit of the #psalms - as songs of worship, lament, praise, and reflection-by transforming them back into musical form, as many were written. Drawing from modern translations of the classic biblical texts, this project reimagines the Psalms with fresh musical arrangements that blend timeless messages with modern sounds. Each Psalm is thoughtfully adapted into lyrical and melodic compositions, many using modern tools, to explore harmonies, instrumentation, and genre-blending arrangements. From soulful acoustic ballads and rock/pop hymns to country pieces and R&B-inspired tunes, the project seeks to make the Psalms accessible and resonate with today’s listeners, while staying true to their emotional and spiritual depth. lyrics: [Verse 1] Don’t discipline me, Lord, when Your anger is rising Don’t correct me in Your fire Have mercy on me, heal this fragile body My bones are shaking in fear My soul is worn and weary How long must I wait? [Chorus] Turn back and come to my rescue Show Your faithful love and save me, Lord [Verse 2] In the grave I can’t praise You I can’t lift Your name My crying has left me empty Every night my bed is washed with tears My eyes grow weak from sorrow Because of those who stand against me [Chorus] Turn back and come to my rescue Show Your faithful love and save me, Lord [Bridge] You have heard my cry, Lord So my enemies must step away You have heard my prayer You have answered my plea for mercy [Chorus] My enemies will fall back in shame and trembling They’ll turn away in disgrace Turn back and come to my rescue Show Your faithful love and save me, Lord [Outro] Save me, Lord ---- style: genre: pop, worship, A reggae-infused pop song with a male lead vocalist

Book of Psalms Back to Songs: Psalm 5 - Run to You

The "Book of Psalms: Back to Songs" project is a creative endeavor to restore the original spirit of the #psalms - as songs of worship, lament, praise, and reflection-by transforming them back into musical form, as many were written. Drawing from modern translations of the classic biblical texts, this project reimagines the Psalms with fresh musical arrangements that blend timeless messages with modern sounds. Each Psalm is thoughtfully adapted into lyrical and melodic compositions, many using modern tools, to explore harmonies, instrumentation, and genre-blending arrangements. From soulful acoustic ballads and rock/pop hymns to country pieces and R&B-inspired tunes, the project seeks to make the Psalms accessible and resonate with today’s listeners, while staying true to their emotional and spiritual depth. lyrics: [Intro, Bright guitars + synth pads rising] (Oh-oh-oh… we run to You, Lord…) (Yeah… You never fail…) [Verse 1, Reflective tone with acoustic + soft drums] Listen, Lord, I’m calling again, Hear my heart when words can’t explain. You are my King, my morning song, I lift my prayers as the light comes on. Each sunrise, I bring it all, And wait for Your voice to call. [Pre-Chorus, Building energy, electric guitars join] You are faithful through the night, Your mercy leads me into light. [Chorus, Full band – soaring worship energy] Let all who run to You be glad, Lift their voices, hearts unchained and free! You’re our shelter when the storm winds crash, Your love forever covering me. You bless the righteous, make us strong, Your kindness shields us all day long. Oh Lord, we run to You — Forever, we run to You! [Verse 2, Rhythmic strumming, reflective tone] You’re not a God who turns from truth, No darkness hides inside of You. The proud will fall, the lies will fade, But grace remains, unafraid. Your justice stands, Your heart is pure, Your truth forever will endure. [Pre-Chorus, Driving drums build tension] Even when the shadows rise, Your light is breaking through the skies! [Chorus, Bold, layered harmonies + soaring synths] Let all who run to You be glad, Lift their voices, hearts unchained and free! You’re our shelter when the storm winds crash, Your love forever covering me. You bless the righteous, make us strong, Your kindness shields us all day long. Oh Lord, we run to You — Forever, we run to You! [Bridge, Passionate build with drums and choir backing] By Your mercy, I draw near, You calm my heart, You crush my fear. Guide me, Lord, make my way clear, Your love remains — always here! [Instrumental Break, Guitar + synth swell] (Oh-oh-oh… Your love remains…) (Yeah-yeah… You lift us high…) [Final Chorus, Full anthem, choir harmonies soaring] Let all who run to You be glad, Lift their voices, hearts unchained and free! You’re our shelter when the storm winds crash, Your love forever covering me. You bless the righteous, make us strong, Your kindness shields us all day long. Oh Lord, we run to You — Forever, we run to You! [Soft Outro, Acoustic + light synth pad] Let all who run to You be glad… (Oh-oh-oh, we run to You, Lord…) Always sing joyful songs. ---- notes: Words updated for song lyrics style: A high-energy worship rock anthem with bright electric guitars, rhythmic acoustic strumming, punchy drums, and uplifting synth pads

Soul-Stirring Family Performance of ‘Shout to the Lord’ You Need to Hear

Listen to this soul-stirring performance from a family band of the song ‘Shout to the Lord.’ The talented musicians in the video are part of a family band called Missioned Souls. Let their rendition of this song uplift and encourage you today.

‘Shout to the Lord all the Earth, let us sing
Power and majesty, praise to the King
Mountains bow down and the seas will roar
At the sound of Your name’

What a beautiful and talented family! The members of the family band include husband and wife, Secan and Sheena, and their four children: Naces, who is 15 years old and plays the keyboard; Neisha, who is 13 years old and play lead guitar; Stacey, who is 11 years old and sings/play rhythm guitar; and Isaiah, who is 10 years old and plays drums.

This family band has a beautiful mission, as stated on their YouTube page. “We are a family commissioned to propagate the importance of family unity by showing love and respect to each family member and for one another. We put into action our God-given gifts to bring joy and fun into other people’s lives through music,” their bio reads. “Missioned Souls was born out of our earnest desire to give thanks for the simple musical talent we receive from above, thus, giving glory to the Holy Trinity.”

As for the song ‘Shout to the Lord,’ it was written by Darlene Zschech, who leads worship for the Hillsong television program, which broadcasts to over 160 countries. But at the time this song was written, Darlene was in a very stressful season of life.

“It still takes my breath away to remember,” says Darlene. “I was not going to the piano to write an important song. I went to worship my God when I was at the end of myself. It was after another reminder notice came in for an overdue bill, and I kind of ran out of steam. But I went into a room where all the children’s toys were, and my very old, out of tune, upright piano. I opened my Bible to the Psalms and started to pray. Within about twenty minutes, ‘Shout’ had been composed. To be honest, I cannot really claim to have written the song—I  just started singing it, bit by bit, again and again.”

May this song be a reminder to us all to call out to the Lord in our times of need. He is our great comforter and healer. We hope that you enjoyed listening to this rendition of ‘Shout to the Lord’ today.

Sounds Like Reign Moving ‘Near to the Heart of God’ Performance

Sounds Like Reign has turned in a moving “Near to the Heart of God” performance. This is a gentle, yet powerful performance of the hymn that is near and dear to the hearts of many. Watch the short but inspiring performance of the classic hymn “Near to the Heart of God.” It’s so beautifully performed that you’ll find yourself listening to it repeatedly.

This world is a wild and chaotic place, full of disorder and utter dysfunction. Hurt, heartache and sorrow abound; seemingly everywhere we look, someone is desperately searching for even the smallest amount of hope. They want some kind of reassurance that this hurt, this suffering, will not last and that experiencing even momentary relief is possible.

Those in the world will look here and there for answers. They will try that or this fix, hoping it is the permanent solution they have been seeking. Sadly, when that turns out not to be the answer they hoped it would be, they are right back where they started, and their hunt for rest and restoration continues.

However, there is an answer. There is one who can take all that hurt, all those painful memories, grief, suffering and make something beautiful out of it. In a clip posted on YouTube, Sounds Like Reign sings “Near to the Heart of God.” That’s the place where restoration can and does take place, where the weary can find rest and the hurt can find relief and comfort.

It's a beautifully written hymn that tells of God’s love for the lost and what He freely offers if they would repent of their sins, forsake their former way of life and turn to Him.

“There is a place of quiet rest,
Near to the heart of God
A place where sin cannot distress
Near to the heart of God”

All, whether they know it or not, are looking for such a location – a place of rest, of comfort and where joy and peace can be found.

Romans 8:6 “For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace:”

Beloved Hymn ‘I Know Who Holds Tomorrow’ Lyric Video

A lyric video has been released for the beloved hymn “I know Who Holds Tomorrow.” The beautiful, powerful words of this familiar tune, combined with the lyric video’s captivating, mesmerizing backdrop, make this a clip that you’ll find yourself playing repeatedly. Watch the short but uplifting and inspiring video to listen to the hymn that is near and dear to the hearts of many, “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow.”

So many people are walking around today who are overwhelmed, stressed out and anxiety ridden. Their constant, incessant worries about the future leave them unable to function. It has gotten so bad, and the problems have become so widespread that simply getting through the day is a significant accomplishment for many.

Constantly worrying about what may or may not happen down the road is no way to live. Yet, everyone does it at one time or another. Anyone who says otherwise is not being 100 percent truthful. We all have apprehensions and carry anxious feelings about what the future holds. However, Jesus commands us to cast all our cares and worries upon Him. Take the issue or problem to Him and leave it at His feet as He directs.

Not worrying or stressing ourselves out about the future is precisely what the beloved hymn “I Know Who Holds Tomorrow” is all about. Of course, we don’t know what will happen tomorrow or the next day, but if we put our faith and trust in Him, we can be assured that whatever happens, He will be there to go through it with us.

“I don’t worry o’er the future
For I know what Jesus said,
And today, I’ll walk beside Him
For He knows what is ahead”

Those are beautiful and powerful words that we would all be better off remembering more often. We don’t have to worry ourselves sick about what may happen tomorrow; we can’t predict or really change the future anyway. Place your trust in Him and let Him handle it all, because He knows what lies ahead anyway.

Matthew 6:34 “Then have no care for tomorrow: tomorrow will take care of itself. Take the trouble of the day as it comes.”

Family Delivers Soul-Stirring Cover of Merle Haggard's ‘Jesus Take a Hold’

Take a moment to witness this beautiful song from the stairwell of this home, now on your screen. Watch as a family delivers a soul-stirring cover of Merle Haggard's ‘Jesus Take a Hold.’

As the song begins, the father has such a deep and rich voice. He is easy to listen to, and his precious children surround him with guitar, bass, and harmonies. They are proclaiming the challenges that come in our world and in our nation. The little girl has a precious voice singing alongside her dad.

The chorus of this early 2000s hit says:

This world has never been in the awful shape it’s in
And people scorn the things our leaders do
It’s time a prayer was spoken from the heart of every man
Jesus, take a hold and lead us through

This family will compel you with their music and genuine concern in their faces as they sing these lyrics. They remind us that we need Jesus and that we should prioritize prayer. Every single person needs to be seeking God on behalf of our world.

We are reminded and exposed to so much division and destruction. Today, we do not know who to trust or what the truth is. However, we know that God and His Word are always faithful and true, and He promises to always lead us through whatever circumstances we face. He is always with His people.

As you listen to this song, be compelled to pray, remember the Lord is at work, and trust that He is faithful even in the midst of a dark world. He is the light of the world, and we have hope in Him.

“Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." John 8:12

Beautiful, Soothing Guitar Instrumental of ‘Old Rugged Cross’

This is one beautiful and soothing guitar instrumental of “Old Rugged Cross.” It’s a lovely, moving performance of a tune near and dear to the hearts of many, which deserves to be heard multiple times. Watch the short yet powerful clip to listen to this talented musician play “Old Rugged Cross” on the guitar.

Musicians continually seek new and inventive ways to produce beautiful sounds. Will this work if I play it that way? How will it sound if I play this note at this moment? They want to push themselves and see what they are capable of doing with their God-given talent. Who wouldn’t want to know what they can do? That ought to be something we should all be doing regularly.

One way musicians can test themselves and see how far they’ve come and how far they still have to go is by playing covers. It gives them a standard to shoot for, something to hold themselves to. Will they be able to play a song the way it was meant to be played? Will anyone else recognize the tune they are playing?

In a clip posted on YouTube, one musician played a familiar favorite and did so in a way that we don’t often hear. With guitar in hand, he played the beloved church hymn, “Old Rugged Cross.”
It’s a stunning and moving display of musical talent. Even though he does not sing any of those familiar lyrics, what he is playing is unmistakably “Old Rugged Cross.” Anyone who has spent any amount of time in church will quickly recognize the tune, likely within the first couple of notes.

Additionally, the fact that he does not sing any of the words does not detract from the performance in the slightest. One could argue that it adds to the musical display, making it even more special. Most people, when they hear him play, will probably hear those lyrics in their head as he plays anyway.

Colossians 3:16 “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
