Broken is a song born of heartbreak. In 6 weeks time, we learned about my Dad's pancreatic cancer, my mother had major surgery and was in the hospital, and we had a personal traumatic issue with our children. In my attempt to make sense of these issues, especially the latter, I didn't think I could hold anything else. Nothing more would fit in and stay. I was all spilled out. My life, what I thought was my life, was BROKEN and nothing I could do would fix it. I know in my heart that our Heavenly Father sees and has a plan, even when we don't . There are many blessings if we know where to look. I wrote Broken as an expression of that hope.

Christian hip hop was represented through sets on the 43rd Annual Dove Awards on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 by Lecrae and Tedashii with DJ P Dogg and Rawsrvnt performing alongside Michael Tait of the Newsboys, Blanca Callahan of Group 1 Crew, Todd Smith of Selah and Natalie Grant for a special medley from THE STORY Tour.

Last December Rawsrvnt joined the tour which was billed as a Christmas spectacular with carols and a musical journey from Genesis to Revelation. It featured Steven Curtis Chapman, Newsboys, Natalie Grant, Selah, Anthem Lights, and special guests Max Lucado and Randy Frazee.

The 43rd Annual GMA Dove Awards was held at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta, GA and filmed by Gospel Music Channel (GMC).

the song is called "it's going to change" and began as a quirky little instrumental idea but quickly manifested into this whole other entity, steamrolling along and haunting me until it's completion.

the lyrics were inspired by itgetsbetter.org which in case you were unaware, is a non-profit whose contributions benefit the "it gets better project" and "the trevor project".

the message of my lyrics is directed to anyone that is feeling in crisis. that no matter how bad things might seem right now, they will change and get better, you just have to give it the time needed for that to happen.
