Human beings are a fallen, lost group living in a broken world. Sadly, because of this, there is much hurt, heartache and strife all around us. People are struggling, calling out for help as they desperately scratch and claw to make it through one more day. Given that everything we see around us is a constant reminder of our fallen world and the havoc and destruction brought about by sin, it appears to be an utterly hopeless situation.

However, despite all that may be happening, there is only one hope for the world and those lost souls hurting and struggling: Jesus Christ. He can interject hope into a seemingly hopeless situation and bring about new life where there once was none. He is the ultimate game changer, for He is truly great!

In a clip posted on YouTube, a church’s incredibly talented praise and worship team performs “How Great Thou Art.” Yes, it’s a tune that we are all more than familiar with, but its lyrics and message remain powerful and true. For He can do exceedingly more than you and I could ever imagine.

“Then sings my soul,
My Savior God to Thee
How great Thou art
How great Thou art”

I’m unsure how anyone could listen to that song or even read those lyrics and not be immediately moved. He put the sun, moon and stars in place. Do we really not think that, if we were to put our faith and trust in Him, He would not or could not come through?

Friend, I stumbled on this song today by Tauren Wells. Oh my goodness, it stopped me in my tracks. You know how ‘Amazing Grace’ always makes us tear up because it tells our whole story? This feels like that. It’s the same anthem and a deep reminder of what matters most. Listen to Tauren as he proclaims Christ’s love and forgiveness in his new song, ‘Not Guilty.’ 

Maybe it’s because it reminds us of what matters most: not our innocence, not our striving, not the long list of regrets we sometimes carry like a heavy satchel on tired shoulders.

It’s about Jesus. Always Jesus.

The song wraps around our hearts like a whispered reminder: When I was guilty, caught red-handed… justice demanded, but His blood cried out—take Me, not her.

Isn’t that the story of our lives, dear friend? We’ve walked through seasons where mistakes left scars. We’ve known regrets that crept in during the quiet nights. And yet—mercy met us there. His cross did what we never could. The blood of Jesus still speaks, louder than shame, stronger than guilt, silencing every accusation.

Scripture says, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” (Romans 8:1). That’s the truth this song sings over us. Not guilty. Washed clean. Covered and free.

Maybe today you’re carrying a memory that feels too heavy, or a mistake you wish you could undo. Hear this: because of Jesus, you are not defined by what you did or didn’t do—you are defined by His love that covered it all. His goodness says, you are not guilty.

What a relief for a weary heart. What freedom for a soul that’s lived decades of life and knows how precious His mercy truly is.

So let’s rest in that today. Let’s let His grace be the anthem that carries us through every moment: not guilty, because Jesus’ blood still holds.

I can’t help but be so excited to share how this praise team delivers a powerful cover of Phil Wickham’s ‘What An Awesome God’ song at church one Sunday morning. When I first heard it, I had chills. There’s something holy in hearing a song you’ve been humming along to on the radio suddenly rise in the sanctuary of your own church. 

It’s the ordinary pews, surrounded by friends and family, the choir robes slightly wrinkled, the faces you see every week—yet when the opening notes of ‘What An Awesome God’ rang out, it felt like heaven brushing earth.

The worship team of First Baptist Clarksville didn’t just perform this song. They smashed it. Each voice—whether trembling with nerves or booming with confidence—was poured out like an offering:

“What an awesome God, what an awesome God You are
What an awesome God, what an awesome God You are
And You save, You redeem, You have called us Your own
What an awesome God You are.”

And isn’t that what worship is? Ordinary people carry extraordinary truth in everyday voices. They are not professionals chasing spotlights, but brothers and sisters giving us permission to lift our own cracked, everyday voices high, even if you can’t sing. I sure can’t sing, but it definitely didn’t hold me from belting out the chorus while I was writing this article. My cats definitely didn’t enjoy it, but I know God did!

You can’t help but belt it out because it means so much to you, and it feels so good to worship Him. It sends goosebumps down your arms when the melody of your commute becomes the anthem of your congregation.

When they sang the words, they were prayers. They were truths we knew God had already answered:

“You are the One who makes the heavens,
You are the One who shapes the earth,
You are the One who gave me purpose,
Before I was born.”

The power of this song lies not only in its soaring chorus but in how it roots us. We are reminded that the same God who stretched out the stars is the God who hears our Monday prayers, our whispered fears, our small hallelujahs.

Friend, maybe you need to hear this today: You don’t have to be standing on a stage to worship with your whole heart. Maybe you are in your living room, on your morning commute, whispering prayers in the kitchen, or coming out of surgery like I did, and it can become a sanctuary. And maybe the goosebumps you feel when a choir sings your favorite song are God’s way of reminding you: I am here. I am awesome. I am yours.

So lift your voice today. Off-key, on-key—it doesn’t matter. Because when we join together—choir, congregation, heaven, and earth—we declare what is always true:

What an awesome God You are.

Typically, when people think of royalty, they immediately envision endless riches, lavish, opulent mansions and an army of people who respond to their every whim and call. Belonging to a royal family, being incredibly wealthy and possessing limitless power usually means calling the shots, having people work for you and never having to wait for anything. If they were to say, “Jump,” the only logical and accepted response would be “How high?”

However, Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, did and does not operate that way. Even though He was and is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Christ did not have boundless earthly riches, palatial mansions or bark out orders to an army of servants. Instead of demanding that others respond, fulfill His every beck and call, He came to serve. He tended to the weak, the sick, the disabled and the outcasts in society. He came to serve and die for all of humanity.

In the ultimate act of love, Jesus Christ, who was perfect in every single way imaginable, willingly took our place on that cross, suffering and dying so that we might one day experience eternal life.

To bring our lives as a daily offering

Romans 5:8 “But God has made clear his love to us, in that, when we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

Life is not always easy or fun. More than we’d like to admit, there are instances that result in extreme heartache and sorrow, pushing you to the very end. You might even reach the point where you’re ready to throw in the towel and give up entirely. Sadly, that is the reality for many people.

However, He never leaves nor forsakes us even during those painful and challenging situations. He is always at the ready, right by our side, offering His guidance, direction and protection. Even when it may not feel like it, He is still in control and hears and responds to our cries out to Him.

In a clip posted on YouTube, a couple sings a familiar tune about continuing even though life may be challenging and painful, even when circumstances are less-than-ideal. “Because He Lives” is a hymn that states that no matter what is happening around us or what we’re going through, life is still living simply because Jesus Christ is alive.

“Because He lives
I can face tomorrow
Because He lives
All fear is gone”

The entire song is essentially a promise, reassuring those who may be experiencing hurt and sorrow. Even though things are rough right now, Jesus Christ is alive and does not forsake us in our time of need. We are not going through it alone. We can have and experience the kind of peace the Bible mentions that surpasses all understanding, even amid tragedy and heartache.

Praise His name!
